Day Skipper

RYA Day Skipper Practical

Ashore Sailing is organising a 5 day RYA Day Skipper Practical (yacht) course commencing Monday 16th April to Friday 20th April inclusive.

During this five day sail & train event you will have expert tuition from a hand picked qualified RYA Instructor. Upon successful completion of this course you will receive your RYA Day Skipper Certificate, you will also be eligible to apply to the RYA for the International Certificate of Competence

Prior experience: Navigation to Day Skipper Shorebased plus basic sailing ability

Sailing ground: Depart Hamble, sailing in The Solent and surrounding seas

Boat: Either Bavaria 37 or Oceanis 37

Places available: 5 per boat

Places left: Boat One FULL – taking bookings for Boat Two – only 1 place left

Intensive course student numbers range from 4 with a maximum of 8 per class ensuring students receive the best possible attention and help with their studies. Dates can be flexible and mutually agreed to accommodate a group or club’s individual needs.

Following on from the Basic Navigation and Safety Course, the Day Skipper shore-based course is ideally suited to prospective new skippers.  Upon successful completion you should have sufficient knowledge to navigate around familiar waters by day, and those wishing to take their Day Skipper practical will find this shore-based course invaluable.

Prior knowledge: None, although some experience desirable
Minimum Course Duration: 40 hours and 2 assessment papers
Award: RYA Day Skipper Shorebased Course Certificate
