Our privacy policy is designed to comply with the ‘General Data Protection Regulations’ (GDPR) that came into force on 25th May 2018 and the Data (Use and Access) Act 2025 (DUAA). Our Privacy policy is outlined below.

WHOSE data do we store?
We keep contact information of our current clients and others who have given their consent via our online forms.

WHAT information do we store? 
The information we store depends on the course or event you have enrolled on and/or goods  purchased and the consents you have given

For clients booking Shorebased courses or ordering goods we require your:

  • Name
  • Email address
  • Telephone number
  • Delivery address (only when documents need to be dispatched to you)

For Subscribers to Ashore Sailing Newsletters, we require your:

  • Name
  • Email address

WHERE is my information held?
Your contact Information is stored on our secure online data base. Our web site is https Secure    Other information, such as SRC assessment papers, medical declarations, risk assessment forms as well as information collected during your course may also be stored as a physical paper copy.

WHEN will my data be deleted? 
On successful completion of your RYA shorebased course your name, certificate number (where applicable) and date of issue will be stored for up to seven years. This information allows us to verify or replace your certificate if required. Note, if you do not want your details to be stored then neither Ashore Sailing nor the RYA will be able to replace or verify your certificate in the future. Medical and emergency contact information will only be retained for the duration of the course you are attending unless there has been a recorded incident where this information may be required later. In addition, for clients doing the Short Range Certificate exam, the RYA require Ashore Sailing to store your exam paper for up to five years for RYA inspection, after this time they will be destroyed.

Sharing your information:

There are times when we need to share your data with a third party, they are listed below.

  • Your course instructor
  • Clients taking the Short Range Certificate (SRC) assessment will need to complete an application form, which will be returned to the SRC examiner. The examiner will complete their section of this form and send it to the RYA Certification department for processing. The RYA will retain and store this information. Why do we collect this information?

The personal information we collect and store is to enable us to effectively communicate to you, course details, joining instructions, issuing invoices, certificates and to facilitate general two-way communications between yourself and us to ensure the smooth running of your course.

Important Information

If you would like us to continue to keep a record of Certificates and Qualifications awarded to you by Ashore Sailing the minimum personal information we require is your name and email address.

If you have ticked ‘NONE’

Any and all of your personal details we may have will be deleted from our database, including all records of certificates awarded to you by Ashore Sailing. This action cannot be undone.
