VHF/DSC Marine Radio

This course is a must for anybody wishing to take an active roll in crewing and skippering a boat both at sea and on inland waterways. Successful candidates will receive the Short Range Operators Certificate.

Student will be taught the correct operating procedure for VHF/DSC marine radio equipment (Very High Frequency/Digital Selective Calling) and will use Standard Horizon Radios to hone their skills (One radio per student). INFO

Our next VHF Radio Course runs on Thursday 14th June 2018.

This one day specialist VHF radio course is a must for Skippers and crew alike.

On the day you will be taught all the necessary skills to operate a modern VHF/DSC marine radio set. Topics covered will include all those listed below and more:

• Initiating DSC alert to Individuals, Groups and All Stations
• Having routine voice communications with other stations on the correct working channels.
• Initiating a DSC Urgency and Distress alert
• Transmitting a voice Pan Pan and voice Mayday
